How we got here?

Smokbites

It started with Choon cooking out of his home during COVID, and a small shop in Katong that quietly closed. When it didn't work, he went to his friends at Mansa Computers with one line: I'll cook, you handle the rest. They said yes. Smokbites opened at Timbre+, and it got busy enough that the rent — tied to our sales — reached nearly $8,000 a month, so we chose to leave because we were confident of the concept and the team.

Oak & Ember

We were bootstrapping, so we couldn't be picky about location. We went where we could afford, a quiet corner of Loyang. The unit came free to take over, left behind by a tenant who'd left when COVID hit.

Our bet was simple: good food, affordable prices, and getting found online — and it worked. Enough regulars came back that our weekend and holiday dinners now fill up, and we've even held 2 weddings here!

The Willow & Oak

We stumbled on the space as it was closing down, and it was hard not to fall for it: fully renovated, offered to us with no takeover fee. This was our chance to take our food somewhere more central and offer something more refined than the family-casual meals at Oak & Ember.

We signed in December 2025, then spent three months turning a ready-made space into something that was truly ours. The cooking is still the soul of it. This time, the whole experience rises to meet it.

We are open during public holidays (except for New Year's Day, Chinese New Year and Christmas)!

There are roadside parking right outside of our restaurant, along Outram Road.

Alternatively, the next nearest carpark will be along Tiong Poh Road!
